She has begun as a college student who pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. After graduating in 1981, Meeker continued her studies in the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She did not, however, took up a graduate course in Psychology; instead, she followed her decision through to study an MBA course in Finance until she graduated in 1986.
In 1982, Meeker became a stockbroker in Merril Lynch. After finishing her graduate studies, she became a Technology Research Analyst at Solomon Brothers. In 1990, she served Cowen, again as a technology analyst, before getting employed at Morgan Stanley in 1991. There, she garnered experience in the personal computer and consumer software industries. She improved upon her knowledge and further honed her analytical skills, which made her become a respected authority in online advertising, e-commerce, search evolution and mobile Internet technology. 2011 came, and she joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as partner. She now concentrates on investments in the company’s digital systems to make them grow and develop more.
Her achievements in the PC software and hardware industry, as well as in new media, made Fortune Magazine honor her in 2006 as a first-rate observer and analyst of rising media and Internet trends. She has a knack for gathering massive amounts of data, which she will organize and factor in comprehensive reports on cutting-edge overviews on rising trends in technology. This ability has helped her support various companies in developing their practices and technological systems. These organizations include Activision, Amazon.com, Dell, Electronic Arts, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! Helping these businesses made them grow to be the influential companies they are today. Additionally, she is given credit for assisting them in increasing their respective market values.
