Four Master Rules of Content
What are the qualities of catchy content that captures the interest of everyone who reads it?
Well-known as a marketing specialist who provides engaging content, Kathy Klotz-Guest suggest that content should have four strategic characteristics, in order to be successful in garnering customers. Here are her words on the subject:
Content must first be simple. People usually log into Internet to look for something easy to read, view and consume. If they are required to study the topic and think for more than 15 minutes, they lose interest, unless it’s a very absorbing subject. We should make things as simple as possible. Do not use hard-to-understand words unless you’re writing a scholarly paper. If you can use easy, conversational language you use everyday, so much the better for your content. It will be more attractive to read and more liable to stick for everyone who reads it.
Everything you write must be short and concise. According to Shakespeare, “Brevity is the soul of wit.” Use few and well-chosen words to convey what you want to say. This will make your content faster to read and easier to understand. If your content is filled with unnecessary details that take long to get to the point, then readers will confused, get tired of reading and move to other blogs or websites.
Dry facts rarely fetch interest. If they get noticed at all, they are taken only for knowledge’s sake, and not for enjoyment, too. For content to be truly engaging, a story must be present to make it absorbing to read or listen to. Take note of the most inspiring and powerful speeches. They usually contain anecdotes to get in touch with people’s common experiences and evoke emotions. Instead of making sales pitches, tell stories of the roots of your business and how your products and services can be helpful to your customers.
Season your content with the element of surprise to make it appealing and fascinating. Speeches that effectively engage the attention of the audience either makes the people realize an important truth or laugh out loud because of the unexpected humor. If the content is packaged in a compelling and convincing manner, then it will be more effective in getting people to come back to your page. They will continually check for updates that will keep their mind entertained and their emotions hooked.
